The On-Call Educator facilitates the visitors’ and group’s learning experiences with demonstrations, lab activities, and special events in the exhibit halls and labs. Responsibilities include interacting with visitors to help them explore and learn from exhibits and lab activities, performing demonstrations, supervising volunteers of all ages, preparing to be trained to work in any of the science halls and maintaining a safe and secure environment for visitors and staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to present science process and content in an engaging way to a broad age range and flexibility. The candidate will have a BA/BS in science, education, or communications, with college course work in science and a minimum of 1 year working with the public in formal or informal educational settings. Candidate will be required to pass pre-employment checks such as a criminal background check and reference checks.

Pay Range: $10.47 – $12.55 per hour.

Do you enjoy writing and have experience in delivering science education programs? Then OMSI’s On-Call Program Developer position may be right for you! The Program Developer is responsible for generating ideas for new programs, researching and developing major programs for various audiences, leading project team, writing narrative for grant proposals, training interpretive staff on programs and implementing projects within budget scope and timeline. The Program Developer will also research, write and test activity copy, background support materials, training materials, teacher materials and interpretive programming and educational guides for exhibits.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest and ability in informal science education, demonstrated experience in delivering education programs, demonstrated writing ability for a public audience and for formal proposals, strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on project leadership teams and ability to balance multiple projects and meet stringent deadlines.

Candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a museum or science center or equivalent experience in an informal science education setting. Candidate will be required to pass pre-employment checks such as a criminal background check and reference checks.

Pay Range: $15.75 – $19.69 per hour.

I need 2 strong candidates to be at my apartment in Del Mar by 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, July 30, prefer at least one with a large pick-up.

Only one bedroom (just 1 room) needs to be loaded into your trucks and unloaded into my new place in University City (about 5 miles way), which is a one-bedroom condo.

In that room is a double bed, easily dis-assembled; two night-stands, an antique phonograph console about 3.5 feet high, a jewelry armoire about 2’x1’x4’ high, a computer cabinet with double doors 5-6’ high by 3.5’ wide by 2.5’ deep, and a computer chair. These are the heaviest items. In additiion, there will be some boxes that may not fit in my car.

Once those things are in the condo, my storage unit “Big Box” will arrive at my new location: 6350 Genesee Avenue around 11:00 a.m. Everything in there will need to go into unit 120. 1st floor, level entrance. I’ll have a hand-truck for you for both jobs.

In the Big Box is a couch, drop-leaf table, antique armoire, some computer/CD equipment and a bunch of boxes.

I’m sorry, but I can only pay $10/hr to each of you. But I WILL buy lunch! :)

BA/BS in related engineering/technical field plus 4-7+ years of experience. Good interpersonal and teaming abilities. Ability to prioritize tasks and plans effectively. Experience in F-35/F135 Flight Test Environment highly desired. Experience with F135 Support Equipment and Engine Test Equipment is a plus.

Occasional travel required supporting deployments, meetings and reviews with customer and air vehicle contractors. Potential overtime exists to meet program objectives. Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one is a must, and the ability to access a SAR Clearance for the F135 program.
