The Western Electrical Contractors Association (WECA-IEC) is the only statewide association of merit shop electrical contractors. We offer electrical training and apprenticeship programs for individuals of all experience levels. The electrical industry has a high demand for skilled workers and offers good wages and benefits.

WECA-IEC offers three electrical apprenticeship programs:

· The Commercial Inside Wireman Training Program requires a 5-year commitment for classroom & paid on-the-job training (OJT) and includes a generous health & welfare plan. Hourly base wages range from $7.75 to $32.52.

· The Residential Wireman Training Program requires a 3-year commitment for classroom & paid on-the-job training (OJT) and includes major medical insurance provided by the WECA-IEC member with whom the apprentice is employed. Hourly base wages range from $8.70 to $15.60.

· The Sound and Communication Installer (Voice/Data/Video) Training Program requires a 3-year commitment for classroom & paid on-the-job training (OJT) and includes major medical insurance provided by the WECA-IEC member with whom the apprentice is employed. Hourly base wages range from $7.71 to $16.00.

The WECA-IEC Electrician Trainee (ET) Program is a state-approved program with a four-year curriculum designed to meet the needs of workers of all experience levels in the electrical trade. We offer courses in subjects ranging from basic language and math skills, to advanced job skills and certification exam preparatory courses. As of January 1, 2006, anyone working as an electrician in California who is not certified by the State, or indentured as an apprentice in a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program, must be registered as an electrician trainee and enrolled in a state-approved electrician trainee program.

WECA-IEC also offers continuing education courses for certified journeyman, and professional development and skill-building courses for those looking to take their career to the next level.
