A “Patriotic Heart” is a person who loves the United States of America, its history, heritage, land and people. And in this current struggle with Evil and its terrorists, we particularly support our Army, Navy Air Force, Marines, Coasties, National Guard and our Veterans. They are willing to lay down their lives for us. They leave family, wives, children, and friends to defend our safety and sovereignty throughout the world.

Our US Military and their families endure incredible hardships on our behalf. Our “Grunts,” the lower enlisted infantry men and women, carry the heaviest load. These are young people; many are just beginning their families. They are fighting for our future and theirs. These are the patriots we respect and about whom we are most concerned.

But our Grunts cannot perform their vital missions with out their support personnel. We also praise and honor them.

Patriotic Hearts is a group of appreciative Americans who have joined together to provide Homefront support and relief for our young men and women who risk their lives on our behalf and on behalf of all freedom loving people across the globe. We are particularly concerned about the effects that war and its horrors have upon our young defenders.

Patriotic Hearts provides 3 critical things that a combat warrior must have in order to function to their fullest and to protect them from the worst effects of combat trauma. These are the basic foundation blocks upon which healing and full reintegration into civilian society are made possible.

RESPECT

Our young warriors need to know that Americans appreciate their sacrifices, losses and honorable service. Everyone who goes into combat gets wounded, although not all of their wounds are visible. No one can prepare themselves for the carnage that our modern armament causes. It creates scenes that no eyes were ever meant to see, nor were any ears intended to hear. And these young grunts are required to kill on our behalf too. It is never intended, but sometimes innocent civilians get in the way and lose their lives too. This is another burden some of our young patriots have to carry. – It a tremendous amount that is required of them. Much more than we non-combatants can fully comprehend.

A Heartfelt Hug

All of those who serve honorably for our country deserve our highest regard and appreciation. It is very important to let those who serve on our behalf in the military know that their endeavors are sincerely valued. – If a combat warrior does not receive this earnest regard, but is ignored or worse, it can create tremendous resentment and anger. This is usually the first step towards full blown Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder. And once a young man or woman is engulfed in that dark hole of misery, it is very difficult to bring them back from it.

ONE DAY (Off Duty) Jobs: When patriotic citizens post chores and repairs that they need to have done at the homes, yards and businesses for their local troops and veterans, it is a wonderful opportunity to meet our brave, young patriots face to face. And your warm greeting and hearty hug or handshake means the world to them. You help them earn some money to relieve their immediate financial stress and you reassure them that there are Americans who are concerned and that truly care about them. – The respect you show them when they come to your homes and offices has a very positive, healthy, lasting effect upon their lives.

FAMILY

The family members of those that fight our wars are too often wounded also. Particularly, wives and children suffer. The husband or father that returns from a combat deployment is not the same person they were before going off to war. They come home changed by the experience. Some of these changes can be positive. Their character has matured. But it is often difficult for them to feel and express emotions, and their natural ease in communicating with non-combatants is much harder than before.

Missed You So Much!

Their families usually are excited and full of joy when they return home. And they expect that their beloved warrior feels the same. Yet when warriors get back home, the family often finds that the one they missed and prayed for is aloof and wants to spend much less time with them. Feelings all around get hurt and hearts are crushed. Wives and children, as well as mothers, fathers and siblings feel neglected, unappreciated and unloved.

To be an effective combat warrior one must turn off their emotions as much as possible. They must stay focused on doing their jobs. They and their fellow warriors can die if they allow their emotions to interfere with their duties. And this emotional switch can take awhile to flip back into the ON position after they leave combat arenas.

Our lower enlisted combat warriors are returning to combat as much and sometimes more than any war that America has fought in the last 100 years. Consequently, our military families are breaking up in numbers never before seen in the US Military. Military wives call it the “Plague.” – What a horrible thing to have happen to these wonderful, patriotic citizens that endure so much hardship on our behalf: They get to see their homes and families torn apart and ruined. It should not be so.

Hurting Couple

Military Marriage Enrichment Retreats: Patriotic Hearts hosts 3 day, all-expenses-paid marriage retreats for US Military and its Veterans. These are held at very beautiful, luxurious and relaxing locations. We provide an awarding winning and extremely effect program, “Love & Respect.” And in the last 3 years, only one couple that has attended our retreats has broken up. – We keep these retreats intimate. Only 16 couples attend.

Often the wives come full of hurt feelings and anger. She probably has not received the affection from her husband that she remembers receiving before he was deployed. She misses their closeness. And her husband’s love seems to have grown cold. – Some wives share this frustration with us soon after arriving at our retreats. The husband usually seems unaffected and almost deaf to her complaints. (His emotional center is still on OFF.)

But during our retreat, as all of the couples cuddle together on the couches and plush carpet to watch and listen to our program, it is like watching ice melt in a microwave. Couples hear stories that remind them of themselves. They laugh, poke eachother and then the tears begin to come and then the close embraces and soft kisses. They recollect the feelings and reasons that made them attracted to eachother in the first place. And then they fall in love all over again. – Another military marriage and family is healed and kept together. Another casualty of war is avoided.

Full Time Employment

This is required: Every US Veteran, especially combat veterans, must be given an opportunity to receive full time employment when transitioning from the military. This is our nation’s and every patriotic citizen’s duty. This is the quid pro qou that we citizens must provide for these stalwart defenders of our freedom, peace and safety. It is our responsibility to do all that we can to insure that these young men and women have means of supporting themselves and their families when they return to civilian life. They have done everything and more to deserve it.

It is our moral obligation to restore the lives of the young men and women that we traumatize with the terrible realities of war. A full time job after serving honorably is a just, deserved and proper reward.
