Founders' Corner

I write about everything that helps US veterans, the organizations that support them, and US small businesses. And I propose to my readers that they also become involved in our important cause. Towards that end, I also write about HirePatriots' exclusive Cause Marketing strategy to promote the businesses that support us. And I introduce ways that patriots and veterans can earn an income from home or office through HirePatriots.com. HirePatriots.com is a program of Patriotic Hearts 501c3. We encourage US residents to post Day Job for their local veterans. And we allow any business to post their jobs and search our resumes for free too.

Mark Baird

Hello, I'm Mark Baird and I founded Hire Patriots. My wife and I are 'helpers.' We are concerned about meeting the practical needs of our US veterans veterans and their families. We began a job board for local residents to post chores that they need help with. It has been very successful. Thousands of local US Military and veterans partially or entirely support themselves from our website. We are looking for others near US Military bases who would also like to have a HirePatriots.com website for their location. We also hold welcome home parties, military marriage retreats, job fairs and create military family gardens.

United Rentals Wants US Veterans

Posted by on in Jobs For Veterans
United Rentals contacted HirePatriots today. They want our help to fill their nationwide positions with as many US veterans as possible. – This is a very patriotic   company. In many ways they set the standard for veteran hiring.  United Rentals actually respects military training and experience. They sincerely value what veterans bring to their company. Right now, they are particularly looking for veterans with ‘mechanical experience.’ – I asked, “What kind?”  They said “Operators (truck and tractor drivers), big equipment and truck mechanics, hydraulics, etc.” – I asked for details and here are the specs for two positions they need to...

RU Feeling Soulful? -- Cat Stevens

Posted by on in Entertainment
Oh baby! Oh baby! Since the beginning of time, who has not felt these lyrics humming within your soul?  I listen to Pandora almost all day, as I sit at my desk and write and write. Sometimes a song makes me feel how much I love my wife. This is one. I have gotten some criticism for posting such romantic stuff. -- But happy marriages make for more productive people and stronger families. -- My wife and most women respond to being told that you love them. That is a good thing!Cat Stevens: How Can I Tell You LyricsHow can...

HirePatriots.com is not just a job posting board! Yes, we have a full time job board connected to the major social networks. And we offer residents the opportunity to hire local active duty, under-employed and unemployed veterans and their spouses for help with chores around their homes. But HirePatriots does far, far more than that! HirePatriots provides more recruiting services and publicity services than anyother military outreach in America, including the big ones. The only difference between us  and them is that they are for-profits that charge hefty fees. Whereas, HirePatriots is a non-profit program that provides its services for free. ...

Should You Start Over or Keep Going?

Posted by on in General
So many times in life we make plans and pursue them only to run into a dead end. This applies to relationships, jobs, athletics, business, and probably everything else. We have a vision or great idea. Our time, money, blood, sweat and tears and passion are poured into it, but it doesn’t work. But think of all the inventions and discoveries of mankind. Those leaders of progress also experienced failure after failure before succeeding. – Columbus sailed 3 voyages across the Atlantic; but, he never stepped a foot on the content of the Americas.  Edison took years to find the right...

Song for A Mom with Dementia

Posted by on in For Families
This is a beautiful song sung by a friend I knew in high school, Robert Frost. -- His father, an Air Force Colonel, and his mother "Marny," became close friends of ours. But age caught up with them, like it has for many of our aging parents. His father died from a stroke. And now his wonderful, intelligent,  beautiful mother has developed Dementia. -- Bob has been caring for her for several years. This has required for him to put his life on hold, because of the constant care required of him. But he has patiently and lovingly persevered.  Here is...

General Schwarzkopf: "The Bear" Dies

Posted by on in News
"Stormin' Norman"was a name the media gave him; but, Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf didn't care much for that moniker. He preferred what his troops called him, "The Bear." He was the charismatic, yet personally humble, leader of our troops in the Gulf War. They trusted him. And they knew that the "Bear" had their backs.  After his military career, like so many US veterans, he continued to serve. He refused to enter politics. But General Norman Schwarzkopf helped raise millions for children non-profits. "I may have made my reputation as a general in the Army and I'm very proud of that,"...

Posted by on in News
Here is the Magic: When we look at the invisible as well as the magnificently huge objects of creation, scientists always see structure and purpose. Everything fits! Anything we look at has a purpose and makes it possible for everything else to exist. Without one part, there are no parts.  So all of us are important! Did you ever have a dream or a passion that never came to be? Did something dramatic or unexpected happen that changed your life's course? Or did Life just happen and turn out not at all like what you had planned? Welcome to the club!...

The Truth: PTSD & Veteran Employment

Posted by on in Jobs For Veterans
The truth is that very few go into combat and then return unscathed.  This is a price that veterans of war pay.  The  trauma of war can imprint difficult images and emotions in a veteran’s psyche that may never go away. This has always been a reality for warriors throughout history.  In America we have referred to this in a variety of ways. After the Civil War it was called “Irritable Heart," after WW I “Shell Shock,” after WW II “Battle Fatigue," after Vietnam “Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.” And today we have identified a separate effect and another category, “Traumatic Brain...

Poem for Sandy Hook Victims

Posted by on in News
Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.  Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. They were filled with such joy; they didn't know what to say. They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day."Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse."This is heaven." declared a small boy. "We’re spending Christmas at God's house."When what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.Then...

Join Our Calling: Helping Others

Posted by on in News
I do not make this obvious but HirePatriots is a 'Helps'  ministry. At least, it is to me, my wife and most of our HirePatriots members. -- We take the time and the effort to promote this unique way of helping US veteran and their families. They are our 'mission field.' -- Many of us actually experience an inner- confidence and assurance that this is our 'higher calling.' By that, I mean that it often seems that our motivation is greater than anything we could generate by our own mere reason or emotion. It is easy to believe that we have...
