Founders' Corner
I write about everything that helps US veterans, the organizations that support them, and US small businesses. And I propose to my readers that they also become involved in our important cause. Towards that end, I also write about HirePatriots' exclusive Cause Marketing strategy to promote the businesses that support us. And I introduce ways that patriots and veterans can earn an income from home or office through HirePatriots.com. HirePatriots.com is a program of Patriotic Hearts 501c3. We encourage US residents to post Day Job for their local veterans. And we allow any business to post their jobs and search our resumes for free too.

Badger Base Camp Recruiting Events:
Guide Candidates and aspiring Outdoor Educators, On March 10th and 11th of 2012, Badger Wilderness Guides will be hosting an apprenticeship weekend. The focus of this weekend is to evaluate candidates in the disciplines of general mountaineering and orienteering.
Another Apprenticeship Weekend will be held on April 21st and 22nd (Earth Day). The focus of this weekend will be Backcountry Paddling and Low Impact Camping.
The goal of an apprenticeship weekend is for the BWG staff and outfitters who are part of the Badger Base Camp Network to evaluate participants as potential outdoor educators, trip leaders and guides. There will be more detail to follow in the next 5 days, but this is an excellent opportunity for individuals to meet other industry professionals for the purpose of future employment.
All participants will receive an evaluation on their performance, a letter of recommendation for top placing candidates, and the potential for immediate placement for those who qualify.
These events serve as a recruiting tool for outfitters from all over the country and abroad who are part of the Badger Base Camp Network. Space is limited, so be sure to let us know as soon as possible if you will be attending.
All Training and Technical Equipment for March Session and Boats, Paddles, PFD’s, and Tents. Water, coffee, hot chocolate and healthy snacks are also supplied.

Entrepreneurship Roundtable For Veterans
Tuesday, March 13, 2012 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
Are you a veteran or know someone who is?
Veterans are known for their strong discipline, desire to win and ability to take control and follow through on their goals. Learn from Veterans who achieved entrepreneurial success by buying a business, starting a business or buying a franchise. We will also hear from a Franchisor who will announce a special program to give away a franchise to one lucky Veteran and will explain how you can enter to win!
These Veterans will share their business ownership experiences including:
- How they funded their business and other financial considerations
- How they overcame challenges in starting their business
- What helped them to determine the "right" business
Want to learn more? Join us and bring your questions for the panel. Whether you are just starting to consider self-employment or actively pursuing opportunities, you won't want to miss this valuable glimpse into the lives of Veterans who have begun building their own American Dream.
