30 Second Commercial Tutorial!!!!!!
Do not take this lightly – this is a very, very powerful tool if used correctly.
What is it…it provides you the ability to express to someone or a company how you help companies with your background, skills and talents within 30 sec or less. We tend to want to give someone or a company our entire resume which is absolutely BORING. Typically when you speak to someone you only have about 18 sec before the mind starts to wonder. Therefore, you would utilize this at a networking meeting or during an interview when the interviewer asks you, “Tell me about yourself, or why should I hire you or, I will be seeing more candidates tell me why I should select you over the others?” This is a place to utilize the 30 sec commercial, however, I must be honest, there are better answers to the above that I have created and developed that are superior and have a better “BITE” to these questions, however, I will stay focused on the main theme.
Let us begin. Every company no matter what product or service they provide is burned with two major objectives at the end of every day. They all must increase revenue growth and market share. This is why their doors are open. So, when you’re interviewing with a company and you are sitting in-front of them… they need to generate revenue and you need to align your skill set to what they need… BINGO!
The 30 second commercial should be focused on how you help companies like theirs achieve what they need. Think of it, if you tell a company how you help companies like theirs increase revenue growth and market share, do you think you would have their attention?
Elements the 30 Second Commercial:
1. Who you are
2. Who you work for – If you do not work for anyone leave this out
3. How you help companies – This could be an industry or category of companies (What your expertise is in)
4. How you provide these services – As mentioned above, companies need to generate revue and market share, so you provide this by helping them, save time, save money, be more proficient or efficient with your skill set.
This should be so natural when it comes out of your month that it sounds like your name. I suggest once you develop your 30 sec commercial practice OUT LOUD until it sounds like YOU!
