How We Help Vet Entrepreneurs & Job Seekers

Posted by on in News
It always hurts me when I see a veteran business go under. Two great veterans I know and respect, who have worked tirelessly to build their businesses have flipped over this week. They are in a whirlwind of hurt right now. I feel for them. And I am frustrated. The main problem with new business owners is capital. They have a great idea, but they may not have the funds to support themselves for the length of time it takes to make them profitable. That is where HirePatriots.com can help them tremendously. In a very short time HirePatriots’ One Day job...

Craigslist vs. HirePatriots

Posted by on in News
I like Craigslist. It is a great site that serves an important utilitarian purpose. And they also support local charities. The purpose of this comparison is not to denigrate Craigslist in any way. But too often I hear business owners and hiring managers tell me, “I post on Craigslist for the same price.” So I have written this post to highlight the numerous advantages to posting your jobs on HirePatriots.com that Craigslist does not offer, and to encourage you to post on HirePatriots.com too.  The similarity that we share is that HirePatriots.com and Craigslist have inexpensive and free job postings.  The...

My Summers In Laguna Beach, CA

Posted by on in Entertainment
Geesh! It has been 50 years since 1963. It does not seem that long ago. Surfing was the new, huge craze. Surf music and commercial surfboards were in their infancy, so were skate boards. Most of us made our own. All of my friends were shaping and glassing. I took bullfighting posters and wrapped my foam before putting on layers of fiberglass. It was beautiful! If you were a boy in Laguna and did not surf then you probably had no friends. There were no surf laws yet, so we could surf anywhere, even Main Beach, which occasionally had some...

HirePatriots.com is far more than just a job board for veterans. We touch the lives of millions of Americans that may not have even heard of us. HirePatriots strengthens local economies. It is a powerful educational tool for teaching love and duty to country.  We unite communities in helping their local veterans to reintegrate into society after serving in the military.  We assist senior citizens, and provide affordable labor and repairs for people who otherwise could not afford it.  We use TV, radio, the press and the social networks to promote patriotism and honor for those who risk their lives...

Why Sponsor HirePatriots.com

Posted by on in For Businesses
Hire Patriots is an organization that I recently got involved in. Hire Patriots is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides a wealth of services to military members and their families including: transitional assistance; job fairs, military marriage retreats, and financial wellness seminars; as well as providing career and personal counseling: http://www.hirepatriots.com/news-and-blogs/entry/hirepatriots-programs-for-us-veterans-and-their-families By far, the most important program is www.HirePatriots.com, which provides a national employment safety net for US veterans and their spouses. Participating communities receive a customized website and job board for area businesses and individuals to hire their local veterans, both for full-time employment and as day laborers. Tens of thousands...

My wife and I recently went to a couple of locations where local US veterans were working at some one day jobs taken from HirePatriots.com. The great thing about these opportunities is getting to meet and listen to the personal stories of the US vets that are being assisted by our outreach. It is very encouraging and inspiring.  This time we got to meet 3 veterans that were already out of the military.   One was an officer in the Special Forces.  He is a part time professor with a doctorate.  He has a good pension and does not take these...

Our Global Crisis: Its Dangers and Solution

Posted by on in News
The entire continent of Europe is in complete upheaval and revolution right now. Primarily, it is a war between the Haves and Have Not’s. 50% of European youth have never had a job, and the prospect of ever earning income is getting bleaker everyday. There are three groups. The Establishment is crumbling. They cannot control their populace. Law and order is not possible with so much of their population rioting against them. Their citizens fill their streets and that results in immense violence, burning, looting and destruction. Another group and the most frightening of all are the New Nazis. They are...

HirePatriots.com offers full time jobs for US veterans; but, we also have a One Day job board for veterans who are active and for veterans who are under-employed and need extra income to make ends meet. These jobs are posted by patriotic US residents and older veterans and their widows.  The jobs are usually for doing yardwork, painting, hauling and small repairs: anything a resident needs.  These jobs are posted by patriotic US residents and older veterans and their widows.  The jobs are usually for doing yardwork, painting, hauling and small repairs: anything a resident needs.  We have been very successful...

A Peculiar Person Am I

Posted by on in Entertainment
All of the old cliches I heard and did not heed when young about getting old are all now coming true for me. And like every other human that has ever existed, the North Star of my life has always been my youth. I have met many more people since those early years; yet, those are always the people I recall most often.  Youth is the very greatest time of our short sojourn upon this globe. Our senses, emotions, creativity, passion, power, and drive are never again matched.  It is such an intense period for our senses that it embeds our experiences indelibly...

Despite having a proven work ethic, and a multitude of valued skills many military servicemen and women are having difficulty finding a civilian job.  Projections are being made for over 1 Million servicemen and women to leave the military over the next 5 years.  Moreover, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation currently 10% of post-911 veterans are unemployed, and the number jumps up to 30% for veterans under the age of 25.    To address this trend, many organizations have implemented programs to help veterans transition to civilian careers.   One of these programs is Patriotic Hearts.  This non-profit...

Any individual can be placed in a position of leadership. For example, you can walk down the street, hire the first person with a bachelor’s degree and position them in a management role – something I wouldn’t recommend – however, placing that person in a position of power doesn’t ensure that they will make a good, or even effective leader. Hiring managers want leaders to hold more than a piece of paper; they want them to be socially influential, charismatic, and most importantly, a leader that can utilize their attributes to bring the parts of the whole together. In other words,...

HirePatriots' Program for Kids

Posted by on in News
My name is Mark Baird. I am the founder of Patriotic Hearts, a 501c3 non-profit. Our primary purpose is to assist US veterans and their families. But we have developed a unique program for veterans that also assist communities, schools, Seniors, and businesses. It is HirePatriots.com.  Some schools in several states are adopting our HirePatriots program as a community service project for their students. It involves us giving the school their own, customized HirePatriots website. This is a site that teachers can post students projects, essays, poems, pictures and videos about the community, America, history, events, and of course US veterans....

The HirePatriots Cause Marketing Strategy

Posted by on in For Businesses
HirePatriots' goal is to develop relationships with businesses that help us both. We seek to work with our sponsors in an active way to achieve their goals in recruiting US veterans. And we promote your company to our job seekers, the residents that post one day jobs, and other businesses that fill their positions from HirePatriots.com.  HirePatriots goes far beyond only posting your jobs or just adding your banner to a web page. HirePatriots takes action. First we take your job postings and share them on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Then we create a permanent page about your company and the positions...

A Patriotic Community Project

Posted by on in General
Our non-profit is "Patriotic Hearts." We host welcome home parties, marriage retreats, job fairs, financial wellness training, and transitional preparedness classes for US veterans, as well as resume writing, job placement and career and personal counseling.  But our one-of-a-kind, premier program is HirePatriots.com. This unique job board has received awards from both President G.W. Bush and President Obama. And San Diego gave it its Visionary Award for stimulating the local economies. This is a simple idea; and yet, it is profoundly powerful. It creates an employment safety net for US veterans in communities across America.  In addition to providing a robust...

Vin Scully: Baseball's Announcer

Posted by on in Entertainment
I love baseball. I grew up at a time in America when every boy in the country played baseball from the time he could swing a bat and hurl a pitch.  In 1958 the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, where I lived. They played in the Los Angeles Coliseum, where the 1932 Olympics where held; and where the USC Trojans play now. A football stadium makes a weird shape for a field.  Some of the players were Duke Snider, Carl Erskine, Wally Moon, Carl Furillo, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale… And the announcer I listened to was Vin Scully. I was...
