HirePatriots is a Program of Patriotic Hearts
Patriotic Hearts 501c3 Programs
HirePatriots is a program of Patriotic Hearts, a tax-exempt 501(c) 3 non-profit that is supported largely by charitable contributions. It is in "good standing" with the IRS.It began as a response to a Marine who returned from Iraq to discover his wife and two small children living without utilities, due to his wife being laid off while he was deployed. He knocked on our founders’ door and asked: "Sir, Ma’am, I need to earn some money right away to get the electric and gas turned on in my home...
EFEL uses a team approach, bringing together a horse specialist, a trained facilitator and the horse, to assist individuals and groups. The equine-assisted model helps individuals learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses and then processing feelings, behaviors, and patterns, recognizing how these may relate to the workplace or at home.
Typical outcomes from the Equine-Human Bond:Experience consensual leadership and how to create mutually respectful relationships.
Uncover unconscious limitations and become empowered to change old dysfunctional patterns of behavior.
Expand nonverbal awareness.
Develop listening to the “two other brains”, the heart and the gut, and...

Saving other peoples’ marriages is not a popular charity. Many people have enough trouble with their own to take action to save anyone else’s. So I will not couch my plea in that vein.Would you contribute if it was to save a U.S. soldier’s life? The number of suicides among our current U.S. military is unprecedented. They have at least 400 suicides every year. But 5 times as many are hospitalized attempting suicide. Most of these military personnel are between the age of 19 and 29. The majority have gone through a divorce. And more than half do not...
Last evening I had the pleasure of speaking with about 20 veterans about entrepreneurial opportunities and maybe even starting their own small business. I have spoken with groups before about this subject, but last night was pretty special. It was different because the room was filled with young veterans, who already realize the importance of preparing themselves for the future. These veterans are taking advantage of the post 9/11 GI Bill benefits and furthering their education. They are enrolled at the University of South Florida. GO BULLS!During our session last evening, I challenged these veterans to look inside themselves and...
I often speak about HirePatriots with veteran organizations, veterans, and other people that have a heart for helping veterans. One of the questions usually asked is, “How can I help?”

Our US GIs, veterans and their families have done an outstanding job coming to the defense of our country since we were attacked on 9/11. It has been a very difficult time for them: At least 6,000 deaths, 40,000 injuries, and frequent long separations. As well, many of our troops and their families are having difficulty keeping food on the table for their families and paying essential bills. -- Aren't they under enough stress?
They serve us with honor!
But there is a simple way for all of us to pitch in and help: HirePatriots.com!

Jamie Reno, a Military Blogger for KPBS wrote an interesting article titled “ Life After The Military: A Guide To Helping Veterans Find A Job.” KPBS is a public broadcasting service of San Diego State University.
Matt was Navy Petty Officer. He was trained in laser technology. He was in charge of a crew that fixed everything on his ship. He got a job when he got out of the Navy, which is good because he has a wife and 4 sons. But in 2008 that company went belly up and suddenly he was unemployed. – That’s when we met him.
Studies have proven that promoting a “higher cause” is one of the most effective ways of marketing your business. Statistics from surveys show that 5xs more people would rather do business with a company that supports a higher cause than companies that do not.

Military Spouses: We honor you!Military spouses and their children are as close to being veterans as one can be without actually joining the US Military. They too have served. HirePatriots.com recognizes this and welcomes Military spouses to use our job boards.HirePatriots.com was begun because a wife of a Marine lost her job while he was overseas. She had two small children in day care. That was $500 a month per child at the base day care center. She knew that she could not afford it. But how could she look for work with her babies with her? But she...
Long deployments have always resulted in a certain number of military marriages failing. This is particularly true for young marriages that have not had to endure long separations. But the amount of military divorces that we are seeing now is far greater than ever before. I am now hearing military wives referring to this incredible rise in broken marriages as “the Plague.”Certainly, repeated combat deployments do not help this situation. The added stress and anxiety created by being stationed in combat zones affects every member of a military family. -- Mostly, we all just count the days and wait until...
Does a psychologist asking a combat veteran, “How do you feel about that” really help?
Are there better methods of pulling warriors out of that black hole? I think so.First of all, before any long term therapy can produce results a warrior’s basic needs must be met.
The most important of these would be stable employment. An honorable, combat warrior who patiently applies for hundreds of jobs after returning to civilian life; but, who gets no offers after many months or years, may understandably develop resentment and anger. And this can too often lead to a downhill spiral that produces...
