Is creativity key at finding Veterans work, jobs or career?
Marine Veteran, Justin C. Pfeifer, definitely answers yes to this question. Justin, as so many of our Veterans experience, was dealing with the increased anxiety unemployment can place on a Veteran while coping with PTSD. Justin was looking for work in all of the traditional ways just like everyone else. Yet as our unemployment rate continues to grow, as high as 22% for Veterans, the ability for transitioning soldiers to find sustainable, national job opportunities for Veterans, seems to have become extremely difficult. As thousands of our Soldiers return, this scenario will quickly multiply, especially when everyone is standing in the same unemployment lines with similar backgrounds waiting and hoping to be picked.
Despite having a proven work ethic, and a multitude of valued skills many military servicemen and women are having difficulty finding a civilian job. Projections are being made for over 1 Million servicemen and women to leave the military over the next 5 years. Moreover, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation currently 10% of post-911 veterans are unemployed, and the number jumps up to 30% for veterans under the age of 25.
